The Light Remains — Original Textured Painting

An ancient oil lamp rests on a weathered ledge beneath the Greek words ΤΟ ΦΩΣ ΜΕΝΕΙ — “The light remains.” Its flame is absent, yet the inscription speaks of a light that endures beyond what can be seen.

Soft layers of ivory, ochre and pale blue give the surface the character of an aged wall. As the final work in the Vestiges of Light series, the painting brings the cycle to a quiet close: what time has worn away has not entirely disappeared.
