Diptych I|II - Mediterranean Mirage

This diptych explores the fragile threshold between presence and disappearance through the atmosphere of the Mediterranean sea.

The works are inspired by personal observations of the Greek coastline — moments when humid air, sea mist and diffused light dissolve the horizon and soften the boundary between water and sky.

In these fleeting conditions, boats appear suspended between reality and mirage.

The first painting remains connected to the physical world — a solitary boat floating within a quiet field of water and pale light.

The second dissolves into atmospheric memory, where the horizon disappears and the boat survives only as a fragile apparition suspended in air.

Built through layered textures, translucent surfaces and subtle tonal transitions, the paintings are less about landscape itself and more about perception, distance and the instability of what is seen.

The soft luminosity and evaporating boundaries echo the visual experience of the Mediterranean: a breathing atmosphere where sea, air and light continuously merge into one another.
