Stand Beside Me - diptych, Original textured Oil painting

"Stand Beside Me"  is a diptych dedicated to the human aspiration to transcend the visible world.

On the left, a woman gazes upward in a moment of quiet invocation. On the right, a circle—marked by time and bearing a fading Ancient Greek inscription—hints at a sacred presence that remains unseen. A piece of driftwood, shaped and carried by the waves, crosses the boundary between the two canvases, connecting the human figure to the unknown. Its eroded form becomes, all at once, a vessel, a wing, a boat, and a threshold.

The surface is built up using layers of plaster, texture paste, wax, and oil paint, evoking an ancient wall that has preserved the traces of time. Images and words emerge only partially, as if suspended between revelation and disappearance.

The work is part of the "Vestiges of Light" series.
